The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, has said the minister of transportation Mr. Rotimi Amaechi acted unilaterally without consulting the APC before supporting AAC. Speaking on a current affairs program, Oshiohmole said as the chairman of the APC he ought to know if the party is working or aligning with AAC.
His words: “ APC is not in alliance with any political party in Rivers state, I am the chairman of the party nothing was discussed before the party as regards any working alliance and if there is going to be any working alliance, I ought to know.”
It will be recalled that Rotimi Amaechi after the court barred the APC from participating in the general election had said the party has adopted the AAC. The battle of who controls Rivers state APC has pitched him with Senator Magnus Abe. It has also led to bitter rivalry between Amaechi and the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had to suspend the collation of the election in Rivers state because of the involvement of the military and other security agencies and the fracas that follows.
The INEC has rescheduled collation to April 2-5 and the conclusion of the remaining election in the state. “APC is not in alliance with any party. The case of Rivers State was not the decision of the party. It was not discussed with the party. We are not aware of any alliance.”
